This year, Glamorgan Telecom are supporting Muscular Dystrophy UK as our 2019 Charity of the Year. With members of our team directly affected by muscular dystrophy, this is a cause that is very close to our hearts and we hope to raise vital funds and awareness to ensure the charity can continue to fight muscle-wasting conditions.

What is Muscular Dystrophy UK?

Muscular Dystrophy UK is Britain’s leading charity dedicated to beating the progressive muscle-wasting and weakening conditions that affect around 70,000 children and adults across the country. Since 1959, the charity has been helping both those living with these conditions and their families by providing essential information, advice and resources, as well as a support network.

Muscular dystrophy and related neuromuscular conditions are regarded as rare. Although there are currently no efficient cures or treatments available for most of them, the charity’s research is generating the knowledge that is essential for understanding the cause of these conditions. What’s more, several clinical trials are currently underway to test the benefit of promising technology on the muscle-wasting conditions the charity support.

Fundraising

To support the services of Muscular Dystrophy UK, Glamorgan Telecom will be hosting a variety of fundraising events throughout the year. This will include everything from bake sales and raffles to outdoor activities, sporting events and much more – and we’d love all the help we can get to ensure wr reach our target, so keep your eyes peeled to find out more about our next fundraiser!

The money we raise will help the charity to continue offering:

  • Support for high quality research to drive the development of effective treatments and cures
  • Access to specialist NHS care and support
  • Services and opportunities that enable individuals and their families to live as independently as possible
  • Faster access to emerging treatments

We’d love it if you could support this cause with us! Please get in touch if you would like to make a donation or find out more about our fundraising.
